The Ohio State University Department of Animal Sciences Alumni: As we start 2009, there are some primary areas that are predominant in my thoughts. As with all State institutions, we have some major fiscal challenges that we are facing in the Department of Animal Sciences. "You're a pig when name calling is justified" is the presentation title in which Dr. Pasha Lyvers Peffer used to intrigue and entice prospective students to the College, particularly the Department at University Honors Day. Through student outreach programs such as University Honors Day and BASE Day among many others, Peffer reaches potential students with the purpose of getting them interested in Animal Sciences and Nutrition. CFAES Students Volunteered to Get Dirty for Community Service
Over 1,500 Ohio State students across campus participated in a University-wide community service event the day before fall quarter classes began. Department of Animal Sciences' History Projects
In 2008, the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) and the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) organizations celebrated their 100-year-anniversaries. To celebrate their achievements, the ASAS and ADSA invited and encouraged all animal science and dairy departments attending the ASAS/ADSA joint meeting to bring a display highlighting their department's history and contributions to Animal Science over the past 100 years.
