During the fall of 1937, Vern Cahill accepted a one-week job in the meat laboratory cleaning the meat rail as a freshman during orientation week; little did he realize how much he would eventually contribute to the meat science program in the Department of Animal Sciences and meat industry.

Five years of rigorous coursework, internships, extracurricular activities and bouncing back and forth between two college campuses finally ended for Katie Skolaris when she graduated in June. Skolaris, is the first and only 2008 spring quarter graduate of a new joint program between the Department of Animal Sciences and Columbus State Community College's (CSCC) Veterinary Technology Program.
